Forum Sanità is the premier annual event that celebrates the best practices and innovations in the healthcare sector in Italy. On October 26, 2023, TapMyLife was honored with the prestigious award in the “Operations and Healthcare Logistics” category for its exceptional contribution to improving the efficiency of healthcare facilities. The project implemented at ASST Papa Giovanni XXIII in Bergamo demonstrated how TapMyLife’s indoor tracking system could revolutionize the management of electromedical devices.
Additionally, TapMyLife qualified for the finals with the project “Transformation of the Outpatient Path for External Patients” at IRCCS Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria di Bologna, Policlinico di Sant’Orsola, through a strong partnership with Engineering Ingegneria Informatica Spa.
TapMyLife is now present with various solutions in 60 healthcare companies and more than 80 hospital facilities across the national territory. The “Indoor Tracking of Electromedical Devices” solution by TapMyLife is an advanced technology that leverages the Internet of Things (IoT) to monitor in real-time the location and status of electromedical devices within a hospital environment. This system offers a wide range of benefits, including:
- Real-time localization: Advanced sensors and geolocation technology allow for the exact position of each electromedical device within the hospital to be tracked. This enables staff to quickly find the necessary equipment in emergencies or when maintenance is required.
- Utilization optimization: The solution allows for better management of devices, ensuring they are used efficiently. This can reduce operational costs and ensure that every device is available when needed.
- Preventive maintenance: Timely identification of devices that require maintenance or replacement can help prevent breakdowns and interruptions in healthcare services.
- Increased security: The ability to track devices reduces the risk of loss or theft, contributing to a secure hospital environment.
The hospital has noted a significant reduction in the time needed to locate and access devices, ensuring greater efficiency in patient care. Additionally, thanks to precise tracking, ASST Papa Giovanni XXIII has substantially reduced losses and thefts of devices, leading to significant cost savings. Within just a few months of activation, over 4 million movements of electromedical devices have been monitored at the Bergamo facility.
Ing. Antonio Fumagalli, Chief Information Officer of ASST Papa Giovanni XXIII, confirmed during the award ceremony: “This solution allows us to quickly recover the appropriate equipment for each department, whether in clinical emergencies or in the event of critical device malfunctions. The solution has a limited cost.”
