Big Data? With What Data

The debate on artificial intelligence and big data in healthcare is intriguing, with tools ranging from process optimization to prescription appropriateness.

However, we believe that the issues of data reliability, consistency, and timeliness also need to be addressed with great care.

For example, in operating rooms, we know that (much) more than 50% of the data collected is often absolutely inconsistent and therefore completely unusable in any business intelligence process.

Healthcare has lost a lot of time in recent years, and now we must make up for it by using all available tools, starting with the collection of high-quality data that can provide real information without needing subjective interpretation.

Data collection must be automated, objective, and non-manipulable, in order to produce high-quality information with significant intrinsic value that can be leveraged with the most advanced technologies available.

A powerful big data analytics tool can only create value if it is based on high-quality, constantly updated data.
