Born from the success of the computerized patient transport request management module already implemented by TapMyLife in major Italian hospitals, the transport management system has been enriched with an integrated solution that extends its use from the moment the patient is taken in charge by ambulance operators, including indications of the occupancy levels of the emergency vehicles based on the requests made.
Streamlining crucial points in operational management with simple tools for traceability, localization, time tracking, and condition monitoring, combined with optimal scheduling and management of transport requests between operators (thanks to the inclusion of these requests in a dedicated platform and automatic opening/closing of transport missions), ensures precise tracking of process times and management of operational missions. Utilizing the position of operators for route optimization and integrating with indoor navigation (once in the hospital) and automation of calling procedures make a critical process in patient handling and emergency management extremely effective.
For TapMyLife, it was particularly important to “close the loop” of automation in monitoring and managing the transport system by also integrating extra-hospital transport. This is because the delicate process of patient handover begins there, with direct implications for improving the process within the hospital, which can thus better manage this critical process and schedule actions based on automated readings and standardized checklists in case of congestion or delays.
The dedicated dashboard system also allows for an analysis of the “history” of missions, highlighting any bottlenecks that can be addressed to benefit user service and the effectiveness of intra- and extra-hospital healthcare transport operators.
This represents another step forward in the digitalization of the Italian healthcare system, a crucial theme for the rationalization of resources and process efficiency for everyone’s benefit.
