The workflow of healthcare processes

The presence of operations managers in healthcare is one of the essential steps toward achieving a complete mapping of clinical-management processes.

The next step is to implement a performance measurement system that is objective, based on data collection that is as automated as possible (to reduce data acquisition costs), and with data that cannot be manipulated.

A measurement system is fundamental to any process optimization due to the inherent need to quantify the benefits objectively.

IoT presents a great opportunity to make measurement operations economically and operationally sustainable. In my opinion, it should be leveraged using the most “standard” solutions available on the market, in order to create dynamic, scalable, and broadly applicable infrastructures.

This is the common sense underlying the principles of lean management, which, rightly and finally, is becoming popular in healthcare today.
