Performance measurement in healthcare

People often tend to confuse the measurement of process performance with the measurement of personal performance of those involved in the process.

However, for example, measuring the efficiency of an Emergency Room process allows for identifying all those inefficiencies that could improve the experience of citizens in the Emergency Room, as well as that of the healthcare (and non-healthcare) staff working there.

The automatic monitoring of the logistics process flow (triage, consultations, diagnostics, fast-track, discharge/admission) and the constant monitoring of patient safety through localization and flow management tools lead operators to focus more on their core activity: patient care.

In practical terms: the triage doctor knows in real-time that the patient sent for a consultation has returned to the waiting room and can proceed with discharge (or admission) without any need to be prompted by the patient or their relatives.

This clearly results in reduced discharge times, decreased frustration for the doctor, and a higher level of citizen satisfaction.
