The smartphone application helps to reach the department or clinic. It works even without a signal.
FERRARA. Moving around inside the Cona hospital will now be easier. Users will be assisted in orienting themselves and moving between departments, services, clinics, and offices thanks to an app that can be downloaded for free on their phones, developed by Tim with TapMyLife technology. This new technology, presented today at a press conference in Cona, will allow users to navigate inside the hospital just like using a car navigator in an unfamiliar city.
The Ferrara University Hospital has developed a navigation system that will guide users via their smartphones to the service they need to reach, the departments, or the clinic where they have an appointment. The app downloaded on the smartphone interacts with the TapMyLife sensors placed on each floor and in every corridor of the hospital. It always works, without needing a connection to a phone carrier (so even if there is no signal) and without requiring a Wi-Fi or GPS connection.
Special attention has been given to people with motor and visual disabilities with dedicated paths. The mobile voice-over function provides vocal instructions, making the app fully accessible to the blind and visually impaired, who tested the app’s functionalities by working alongside the technology developer, TapMyLife, during all stages of the project. It should be noted that the app is still being implemented in terms of developing its features for the blind: in the coming days, together with TapMyLife and the Union of the Blind, efforts will be made to update the final version of the application.
